Thanks...for the vote of confidence! Lol. Besides what I saved on not going the M5 route allows me to upgrade the exhaust and other stuff on my 997.2 Carrera C4S and put an exhaust on the wife's Panamera when the weather improves.
. Also with that price delta (local dealership now has an M5 sitting on the lot for about 2.5 weeks unsold at $103k) of roughly $30k I can still pickup a CPO e92 M3 for 1/2 of the sale price if I want to satisfy my M needs! And then tune that accordingly VF-engineering makes some nice bolt on supercharges that along with say an Arpkrapovic exhaust make it a beast!
So am not downing the M5 by any means..have had enough M cars to know the difference; just saying and advocating that it is not the total end all in terms of BMW F10 models and that the $ delta between a well and specifically tuned 550i is not so close to the base price M5. No they are not the same cars especially on the track (have driven M3, M5, and M6 on the track); if you've done the M schools and Performance deliveries (and owned these cars u know that) but for everyday on the street 98% of drivers will never uses the performance delta between the two cars at least without not going to jail or breaking more than a few local speed/driving laws! Lol.
So for those who chose M5s great but don't assume that everyone else made a misguided or uninformed decision or got a 535i or 550i or even a 640i or 650i cause they couldn't or didn't get an M5/M6. It's not as simple as paying $10-20-30k diff for theses cars...sometimes reason, driving habits, and even other autos owned go into the decision beside the ego part of owning an M!
