I have just ordered a f11 for delivery in two weeks. I was initially surprised by the AMS comparison test where the F10 finished last after both Audi A6 and the E-series. F10 lagged significant behind the A6 in all the typical strong disciplins of a 5-series. The explanation is very simple: Weight.
Whereas the A6 has lost approx 100kg the F10 has gained about 100kg. Bearing in mind that the previous A6 already had a weight advantage. In a world where every car manufacture tries to loose weight goes BMW in the opposite direction. What were they thinking? Braking, agility, road handling, fuel economy etc is hurting when a car gains weight and the AMS test shows just this. Elementary.
