I guess what I'm trying to do and I've searched and searched is m5 style type diffuser without actually having to Modify the 535i quad exhaust since the M5 exhaust is more closer inwards.

Thanks! The OEM Mtechs don't have fins at all, they are all plain:
Fins come with the aftermarket diffusers. For example:
#74 (right) is Vorsteiner for 550i with OEM tips, fins are rounded a bit and the right one has a cutout for tow hook (see
http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=620619). It has standard depth same as the OEM one and needs to keep the bolt-on plate (see OEM part 15 at the picture of above) to complete the assembly. This one is actually good for all 5-series with quad tips and no need to center them:
#75 is OEM Mtech for 535i, looks clean as is, no matter to change if stock tips, no quads.
#82 is 3D Design with a single fin, you are right it is very popular
3D Design also make a perfect model with the plain center:
My Vorsteiner Aero for M5 is such a DTM-style one, with two large fins:
You are right, the mufflers were adjusted one inch towards the center. See the two different Vorsteiners, one is for the 5-series (550i) another one is the Aero M5:
And here is how the quad tips are centered differently and sit in the diffuser windows:
There are also different options to retrofit the OEM M5 diffuser with a center plate with 2 fins, or some aftermarket ones for M5 with two fins (RKP is a good example). This all is very individual, also carbon vs. painted, genuine vs. replica etc. Good to have a selection of diffusers available locally without waiting 3 month to get one
