Similar feeling here, dip stick is instant and accurate. At least mine is showing full, after 2,300 miles, hope it stays that way.
I know if mine gradually dropped and was at showing half full, I'd definitely be tempted to add some oil. Even if it was just 1/4 litre to see how it changed.
