some broken tabs!
hmm, i would say you need a lot of patience for this mod, once all 6 screws are out the bumper can be pulled forward a bit and you can reach the top and side tabs, like the OP said. That being said if you are doing this in the winter like I am .. you might break a couple of tabs on the old grills, if you are replacing them no worries but if you want to re-use them be careful. I replaced mine with OEM grills from BMW and they snap back in really nicely. and looks sharp! Midnight blue with black grills.. will post a photo soon.
