Any time that you move the wheel location out, you put more stress on the bearings because the lever arm is longer. While this may not be a major factor, it is a factor to be considered. Depending on the wheel design, it may also affect the brake cooling (probably insignificant). Depending on the spacer, tire, and wheel, it may also expose the body to more sand and stone chipping.
