Premium Package I options are standard on the 550. I like BMW's strategy of keeping the base price of the 535 reasonable and not driving it up with forced options. On that car IMO offering a Premium Package I makes sense. Plus BMW is offering some highly desirable options, like Comfort Access, as part of a package, and as a separate stand-alone option. The buyer chooses what is best for him or her. The simplicity of buying a BMW is evolving. It was simpler when you identified the BMW series, then the engine, then you just added the sport and premium packages. Things have gotten much complicated now with the plethora of sophisticated electronic technological options available for the F10.
It appears that in the US we are moving toward the German model, where every option is available separately, and you select options from a literal book of choices.
