That's what I thought you meant. These problems stem from A) spotify not designing functions to use the app over bluetooth they designed the Spotify app on BMW's SDK's (Software development kits) and B) Apple not allowing anyone to access the apps (besides their own) while the device is locked.
What I can see happening in the future is BMW charging us to download their app that integrates with Apple's carplay/Android Auto OS. Fortunately once that does happen spotify will have an app for those OS's.
