I haven't tried it yet but I am assuming cars with launch control will have a set rpm where it revs up to on its own before you release the brake. Seems like a gimmick because cars without launch control could accomplish the same thing by just putting your left foot on the brake while flooring the gas pedal. People usually let the car rev up to 2.5-3K before letting go of the brake. The key is to do this step as quickly as possible to prevent massive heat build up inside the transmission.
