Yes, a flag will pop up under the speedometer after both pedals are pressed. Is the car warmed up? The manual says that LC will not work unless the car is warmed up or driven for at least 6 miles/10km continuously. Other than that it sounds like you are doing it correctly except the first 2 steps may be reversed. You may have to put it into SPORT+ (or press the DSC button so TRACTION lights up - either will work) before moving the shifter to the left. This is the order of operation in the manual.
