Swiss Roadtrip

I organized a road-trip through Switzerland for my girlfriends birthday. It was also the first time i was able to do a few scenic routes with my F10.

Sorry for the lack of pictures of the car. Here's some from an older thread.

I planned the route first via google maps. once it was finalised, i used the bmw routes website to transfer it to my F10. This is a joy to work with.

We went from the Basel area, where we visted the Beyeler Museum, down to Interlaken passing the two lakes. There are some pituresque villages there where you can also grab a bite.

The weather was changing a lot once we hit the mountains, and driving towards the grimselpass we had zero visibility. This made for a pretty special drive up to our hotel, which was situated on an island, and had to be reached by driving over the ridge of a dam. the road was as narrow as the car, lake on the one side, and a few hundred meter drop on the other side, with a visibility of less then 2 meters.

here's the hotel after the fog cleared, the next day:

onto the grimselpass:

after which we reached the rhone-glacier:

which you can also walk through:

afterwards, the furkapass heading to bellinzona:

Bellinzona's castelgrande:

And at the end we headed back north via the san bernandino pass in very heavy rain.

All in all a great set of mountainpasses. The weather could have been better, but on the plus side, we were all alone most of the time, and these weather conditions underline the raw nature of the mountains.
