The stock M5 mufflers are made to sit 1" closer inward than your stock 550 tips/diffuser opening. If you don't want to buy a new diffuser, the muffler shop can easily install them to fit your existing 550 opening. Stock M5 tips (~3" each) will fit fine inside the trapezoid opening. Down the line if you decide to buy a diffuser, you'll just have to buy one made for non-M5's. If you decide to buy a M5 or replica diffuser, the shop will have to move your mufflers 1" inward.
