LEDs look brighter but you need to look at the lumens or total amount of light emitted from the bulb. If you look up the lumens rating of LEDs vs HIDs, you'll see that HIDs give more light output. This also explains why "purple" HIDs or those rated 8000K actually emit less light than OEM HIDs which are usually 4300K. Here's a link to everything you want to know about LEDs
