You're right it's a business decision because it's such an inconvenience to go to the dealer and sit for 30-60 minutes while they have to have to pull a tech away from what he's doing to put one quart of oil into the car, most people would just do it themselves then hassle it. That's what they're betting on and winning.

I pulled in to the service drive, told the guy about my minimum oil message. He came right back w/ a quart, put it in the car, and then we re-checked the oil level and I was on my way. Waiting for a tech would be pretty frustrating.
