Sadly, I paid the $200. I just finished installing the update on my 2011 F10. I specifically wanted to have the mapping for the (Edmonton) Anthony Henday Freeway north section, which has been open for well over a year.
Well, update complete, I get some more nice pictures of buildings around downtown, but my car still thinks I'm driving across a farmers field when I'm on the North Anthony Henday.
I can see it if the road had been open for only a few months, but it was Feb 2012 or thereabouts.
It wouldnt be so bad if this was a lifetime update subscription, a la Garmin. But if I have to pay $200 every time for a still out of date map, forget it.
I've left a message with BMW voicing my disleasure. It is my intention to return the USB key to them for a refund.
