I'm not sure anything changed from a Sept 10 build and a 2011 build. It was Sept 10 that brought in Combox as standard with the pro media. So if it doesn't have this it's probably an older build just registered in September.
As for retrofit of 6NR, I'm not sure.
P.S. the 30d is a great engine, and very different to the 20d. I'm quite pleased with mine, just wish I'd gone for the F11
