I did test the sensor for the lights. It is the larger circular area on the rear view mount. I had the DRL on in the iDrive.

1. Set DRL to off (un-tick) in iDrive
2. Set the lights switch to "A"
3. Cover the larger sensor area and see the head lights come on

Now it works for me !
