Question - I hear that hooking up to the battery is a bad idea, but I dont like the idea of leaving the hood open or half closed so close to the aligator clips. Has anyone permanently installed a pigtail in the trunk?

I close my hood all the way down then I lock the car with key fob
I heard if you leave hood open alarm will sound.
