Honestly, no. This is where Americans just get a bad wrap. Products have warranties for a reason - they may break, and the manufacturer may need to fix it. If it's a simple situation of a defect and fix, why exactly is someone entitled to additional compensation in this scenario?
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I personally would express my frustration in that situation. And I certainly do not believe that belts should be breaking in a 1 year old BMW, leaving you stranded. They should at the least cover the tow.
