Don't confuse the US 335d with the European version!

The diesels sold in Europe aren't a direct correlation to the US versions. On the GT series for the rest of the world, for example, they have the 530d and the 535d. The engine in the 530d is closer to the US 335d at about 265hp, while the 535d is (as indicated in the article) the 299hp version.

In either case, I agree, I would very much have preferred purchasing a diesel version of my new car (to be picked up in Munich late April) verses the gasoline engined version, but, BMWUSA told me there was a chance it might show in the mid-cycle update due late 2012, and it might not...I just couldn't wait longer, as I'd already put it off over a year.
