Not sure what your mechanic means by not sitting flush against the frame?

Is there a gap between the bush and the frame or is the bush to large?

Remember that there is a piece of metal that sits between the frame and the bush (it's clearly visible in Alan I's photo, just on top of the foremost red circle). This piece of metal holds the bushing inside the U-shaped metal tab that surrounds the bushing. Without this metal tab the bushing will have a lot of free play and won't sit flush against the frame.

But a bit strange if your mechanic didn't notice these tabs when he pulled out the original sway bar...
