Many people try to comprehend what kind of concept this is?
They keep coming up with the wrong conclusion.

It is not a car that has competition, there never has been a car like this.
This is pure BMW which means it does not play catch up because others have high performance concepts BMW have no interest in.

It's a full working prototype using all of it's intended technology. battery power , 3 cylinder diesel etc...

- The car goes and stops like it was promised it would over a year ago.

It is no longer a Vision... This is reality. Welcome to Tomorrow.

Updated with more info:

We are in the middle of doing late night filming here at the BMW Welt on both this and the 6er Concept.

Both cars will be revealed on the 30th september , although selected journalists have driven the full running car at BMW's Miramas facility a few weeks ago so the embargo ends next week so there will be exclusive driving reports to salivate over.

It's a very interesting car, it is not a sports car rival aimed at the R8? It is a lot more than that, it's a concept that BMW want to prove that with future legislation there will be BMW's like this on the roads of tomorrow.

The car will be shown on the 29th at BMW's "Efficient Dynamics" night on the eve of the Paris show.

The upcoming MegaCity Vehicle which in one way is possibly BMW's answer to the MINI Clubman including similar rear hinged doors for passenger entry. Will probably be (well,as I see it) the most important car of the decade.

The rendition is the closest to the MegaCity Vehicle. and it gives the conclusion of how well this project has been cleverly thought out.

The MegaCity Concept car will be unveiled at next years IAA in Frankfurt alongside the production version of the BMW Active Hybrid 5.
