I agree with the above, it sounds like a misfire, you need to pull the actual codes.

The MAF cutout should be a temporary drivetrain malfunction that doesn't put the car in limp mode. However, if the car detects a misfire it will cut injection to that cylinder so the engine will run rough until you restart it.
