When just driving around the city, all that's displayed is the current speed. Not very distracting. If anything, it's more convenient. I find I don't have to take my eyes off the road at all. On the highway, it adds the cruise speed. Nice touch. The only time it could be considered "distracting" is with Nav guidance on. It'll tell you the name of the next turn, which way to turn, and how far away it is. If you really don't know where you're going, though, it's quite convenient to have in front of you.
