Just once I would like to see someone get in the car and mow down a couple dozen people in a mob like this and then get off with a light sentence - or no sentence at all. With a good lawyer, especially with the victim being a woman, you could probably get pretty far playing up the "concern for ones own life" angle.
It might be a good deterrent for future rioters. But then, probably not.
