I agree there's a convoluted route for the air to enter the engine, but I'm not sure we're seeing evidence of the engine being starved for air. Especially if you look at the dyno in this thread, seems to stay pretty strong at higher rpm which I wouldn't expect to see if air restriction was causing power loss. Maybe someone will come out with an intake soon and show good gains - one can hope...
