This just feels like a jealously tax to me. It might be absorbed by most and in the gran scheme of things, perhaps not that much but I really hate the way that those of us who have reached a certain level of income get penalised for being able to buy something nice.
Instead of that money going to taxes (where arguably a lot of it is wasted) , it could go in your pocket to be spent instead and moved around and help the economy in turn.it a few hundred quid that won't be spent in the shops.
