I had another problem with the 11 535i. I had a cooler in the car that drew some power while stopped. This evidently degraded the charge in the battery somewhat. Five days later, I got a message that said that the battery was not charging. I used a battery charger that overnight got it back to normal, but two days later the same message came on, along with the engine malfunction message that it could not be restarted. I drove immediately to the dealer who kept it overnight, did a test and found that power had been taken from the battery for 30 minutes a week before. They reset the error code and charged me $50 for the privilege.

There is no way to reset the error code (that I know of), so, if you are in Montana with no dealers, the car will have to be flat bedded out of Montana, probably to Calgary, to get the error code reset.

There is a lesson to be learned. Never have any device connected to the power while the car is not running. And never buy another BMW.

I'll be picking up my Audi S5 in Ingolstadt in three weeks.
