My car was built Jan 2012 but it still didn't have the latest Bluetooth software installed at the factory even though it was released before my car was built.
Mine failed to update 3 times when I tried the over the air update but it did work fine from a USB stick.
I'm on 3.5.4 and have 511 contacts so it shouldn't be an issue with 154 contacts
