google hypnagogic and hypnapompic hallucinations to learn more about these "normal" hallucinations.

And to clarify, everybody is paralyzed in certain parts of their sleep, it is called REM or rapid eye movement.

I am a big believer in "prove it or it ain't real" philosophy, however, I did grow up in a haunted house for a good part of my childhood. Few recollections I have during that time include night terrors to a point where I would wake up covered in sweat and screaming. I had many nightmares about hands reaching out to get me and walls coming to life and reaching out for me. It was a 2 story house with wooded floors, and late at night when everybody was asleep you could hear the floors screaching as if somebody was walking up the stairs.

All true stories, actually kind of freaks me out just to think about it.
