Themarkymark's 2014 535i xDrive Progress Thread

Figured that I would make a thread to keep track of my car as it progresses, but we have a little catching up to do so here we go:

Bought the car in December 2017 from a Carmax while I lived in Nevada for a couple years. As I used to work as an Audi technician, they had an A6 that caught my eye but I ended up leaving with this instead. I have had a handful of E30s in the past, but had not often considered a modern BMW. I worked in manufacturing with Ford so I had a Focus ST and an Explorer Sport prior to this. Picked up with around 31k miles.

I worked a lot while I was in Nevada, that's what I went there to do, so it wasn't until I moved back to Ohio and had more time on my hands to start messing with it. Note: I left Nevada December 21st 2018, driving through multiple apocalyptic snowstorms in the car and arrived home safe in Cleveland the morning of the 24th, a nice bonding moment with the F10.

First thing I knew was I needed to hear a little more of that I6 soundtrack and decided I wanted a tasteful quad exhaust setup. I was not going to shell out $2,000, so prior to contacting a friend to make something for me, I wanted to just try a muffler delete.

I didn't want a new bumper, I saw a couple people who modified the base bumper to accommodate quad tips and thought it looked really clean. So I ordered my 3.5" quad tips, measured them, made a template for the cutout in Adobe Illustrator and took them to my body guy.

He taped the template to the bumper and cut some perfect openings for me. We used self-adhesive door edge protector to create a finished look around the opening. Rolled to the muffler shop, they chopped off the mufflers and welded the tips up exactly where I wanted them.

My tires were whooped and I was ready to ditch runflats so I bought a staggered (20x9/20x10.5) set of Avant Garde M359 finished in Hypersilvers. Wrapped them in Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3+ 245/35 up front and 285/30 in the rear. The concave and the way the rears fit are spot on. The fronts look great too but I want to go a little more flush so I have some 8mm spacers I'll be putting on soon.

I was sick of the standard wheel, so I installed a pre-lci M5 wheel to save my hands and enjoy having paddles.

I coded with E-Sys to add the functionality of SAT and am happy to have Sport+. PS, this wheel is for sale currently in the classifieds.

I also indulged in xDelete to save some wear on the drivetrain as well as have a little fun while the weather allows. About a month ago, I replaced the RF axle shaft, differential fluid, and both front wheel bearings. I figured if I can keep the torque away from those components at least half the year, why not?

I got a little bored so I put in my G-Plus intercooler this week. I live in an Ohio E-check county and have to get an emissions test when the stations open back up, so once that happens I'll be installing and ER catless downpipe and ER charge pipe.

Yesterday I installed these pretty cool sequential turn signals:

Today I just dropped the car off at my body guy who will have it until the weekend. He is repainting the LF door after a negligent detailer wetsanded through the clear on a spot. While it is there, I am having him respray the hood (rock chips galore) and install an M Sport front bumper and M Performance lip. The lip will be gloss black to go with the gloss black dual slat kidneys I bought.

After I get the car back, it will be going for shadowline vinyl wrap and a gloss black roof wrap.

To do list (purchased)

Transmission service
ER catless downpipe
ER charge pipe

To purchase and do

Fuel-It lines and ethanol sensor
Walbro 450 LPFP

A little farther off but still planned for this summer

Turbo upgrade (leaning Big Boost 3.3)
HPFP (leaning Dorch)

Thanks all to following and being a great community. I'll update this as we go!
