I have the same issue with only couple of my play lists in my ipod classic, confusing as it comes up randomly too, and always with same play lists, 1st I thought it was down to the play list setup maybe, very confusing.
I am upgrading my i-drive soft next week, I am also upgrading my i-pod it was over a year since last upgrade to see if this resolves the issue.
