It looks like ur warranty is still good not sure on the original purchased date but at least u have until the earliest the end of this year if not 2012, i have an 08 as well and mine will expire the end of 2012 and at that time i will be buying the extended if needed.
Regular maintanance is not bad, the bad part is when something breaks that will cost an arm and a leg.
I would suggest to have bmw pull the records before making the purchase.
