If the interior options are the same I'll probably go with oyster/black in nappa (I don't like the dakota). It's going to be a pain keeping clean, but I want something with contrast rather than going with black.

It's tough for them - since they're trying to get as many cars out there as they can which dealers can sell (as many know, BMW doesn't put cars on consignment, so dealers actually have to 'purchase' cars which sit on their lots). This means that weirdly optioned cars sit on lots, unless special-ordered.
With that said, I'd pay $1k for Nappa, but not $5k for Merino.
