Unfortunately I'm in a wheelchair and need hand controls to drive the car so test drives are out for me.
I've been in again today though and have now placed my order. Managed to spend ten grand on optional extras while doing so!
The adaptive drive is something that I haven't ordered but I did go for the sports gearbox as you guys recommended.
I've also gone for the professional stereo so I can be certain of drowning out that diesel noise!
I'm sure I'm going to really enjoy this car but must admit I'll be very sorry to see the merc go. But at least I've still got a couple more months to enjoy it.

You are right in the respect that I won't miss the crappy economy, but I will miss the 200bhp that I'm dropping, and I don't care what anyone says, torque is a poor substitute to bhp
