OPP is paid well. I think my brother in law is about 65k per year after taxes, and he's only been on for 4-5 years.
A lot of the cops don't have time to spend their money either, so they buy realestate and end up sometimes retiring fairly well off.
I know if he goes to the states, he worries about being pulled over by cops there, they don't make as much there and they hate the OPP for it and find ways to make them suffer.
