With the engine winding to 8000rpm, and the smg slamming you in the back (set at the hardest shift mode), I was sure I did a quicker run in the M3. Suprisingly though, when I lined them up or instrumented them, they were dead even in the qtr mile. With the 335i the easier one to launch with all the torque (even without the LSD). The 335i was so effortless with smooth shifts, etc. Even mildly tuned, the 335i would walk away from my 06 M3. If the M3 were the faster car, I would have preferred to drive it instead. But since the 335i was the more powerful car, thats the car I preferred. Plus it gets better hwy mpg. I am just more interested in driving the car that IS faster, not the one the SEEMS faster. Thats just my priorities. Less "show" and more "go" any day for me. The 335d takes that driving experience even one step further in the effortless speed direction.
