I'm having the same issue with my cradle and it has the fan. I'm thinking of taking the the whole thing apart and try to tap into the A/C vents to see if I can divert some cool air to the cradle. I know that I may have to make a hole next to the cradle to keep it cool but it's better than driving with one of the arm rest flap open.
I'll keep you guys posted.
