I have a E92 335 RWD and X3 35i xdrive we just had our first snow storm (about 15-20 cm of snow) and let me say even with the factory all season (I have a dedicated set of winters) the xdrive is a great option to have. This is actually my 1st AWD vehicle and I have already come to appreciate the added security. For your situation it really depends on the amount of bad weather you have. Good luck.
