I just want to make the car last for the long haul and thinking that the current oil change periods aren't really ideal.

I would suggest you to pop in to your local dealer. Give them the key and ask them to check what is due.
Get a print out of it.
Then go

Put your car reg and see what price you get for the jobs you need to get done.

And request it via website. Some dealers give you price more than that website.
