Mine's still working its way from Germany after picking it up and driving it around there. But, when I looked in the center console, all I saw was an aux input (audio) jack, no USB port. There is a USB port in the glovebox, though.

The specific phone adapters do multiple things: connect it to an external antenna for the cellphone, charge it, and connect it via digital means.

The vehicle is capable of doing streaming bluetooth (you get that option when you pair it, so not only the phone part will work but audio as well), and streaming BT may be a reasonable way to go instead of the cable. Not sure what functionality differences there may be in the various ways you attach it though.

I did not opt for the smartphone interface, but I bought a new phone after...not sure how it will work, but expect it to work fine.
