It starts from the purchase date. If you're still under warranty. You're extending it 2-3 more years. Which is about 1k a year.
The warranty ended on 11/30. I purchased the extended warranty for $3600, which covers everything, however it only lasts for one more year, which is pretty pricey considering the factory warranty is no charge, yet adding one year on to it is over $3K. For another $800, I can extend it to two years, which will help sell the car quicker.

Although it's expensive, at least I have peace of mind, and the wife is happy (which is very important )
