M performance tips are not welded on. They are installed by using a small screw.
As Isturbointeg stated, old ones need to be cut out, extend the tips and install the new tips.
Honestly it would just be easier to install the whole M Performance system at that point with all the work involved.
Still to this date, the best mod on my car. I LOVE the sound.
