I always check my red alarm light under the mirror as I leave the car.
When it is blinking normally, you know the car is secured and locked. When it's blinking rapidly (I seem to recall), there's one or more doors/boot not closed correctly.
BTW, when you press the lock button twice upon locking your vehicle, you set the alarm for the doors, but not the interior and motion detected alarm. (For example when you leave a dog for 5 mins in the car or something).
