Not sure on the drop and Xdrive, but tire circumference needs to be identical front and rear to avoid cooking the Xdrive diffs... (you need both the front and rear driveshafts to rotate at the same speed, if not there will be a rpm difference between front and rear driveshafts that will eventually fry the viscous couplings in the transfer case diff).
Not sure if BMW offers staggered wheel setup from factory on Xdrive cars for that reason? Possibly on the M550d?
