whatever you mentioned (failed timing chain, oil pressure problems) all a textbook example of what happens when you follow BMW's ridiculously length oil service intervals. N52 seems less prone to damage from these intervals compared to the n20 turbo counterpart. if you changed oil every 5000 miles or so, I doubt this would happen to you.
