Do you do lots of short trips ? I suspect so.

If the DPF is attempting an active regeneration, and you end your trip, then the excess fuel that is used for the regen (to burn off the ash in the DPF) can end up in the sump, raising the level of the oil. If it gets high enough, then the engine can suffer an uncontrollable runaway, where it starts to run off the diluted oil/diesel mix in the sump, right up to the rev limiter, until the engine self-destructs.
So the oil in your sump may well be contaminated with diesel.
I'd check the oil level again, and this time have a careful sniff of the oil on the dipstick. If it smells heavily of diesel, then you really need to think about getting an oil change carried out.
