Did some extensive searching on the forums and couldn't find a particular instance which would be directly applicable to my problem.

I have option 6FL (USB in console) but not 6NF (Music).

Does this mean I can't control my iPhone from the console USB connection? Also, When connecting my iPhone to the the USB and trying to access it through iDrive it says not supported.

Reason I'm asking is because I'm wanting the cradle for my phone (I don't believe I'm going to upgrade to the iPhone 5 anytime soon), so... the way I'm looking at it, the only options I have is to either get the y-cable to be able to play music through my iPhone and forgo the cradle, or get the cradle and forgo the music.

Am I correct?
