I am coming from an E90 M3 as well. The 5 series feels like a boat compared to the M3 doesnt it?

But I would do the early change for peace of mind. An oil change is pretty inexpensive, especially if you can do it yourself. Any engine oil will collect more wear metals in the first several thousand miles as the engine breaks in. Also unless you are leasing, I would not go 10k miles between changes. Cut that in half.
