BMW f10 drivetrain error

2013 BMW f10 520d se drive train error. The guy I bought the car from at 80k k/m, after sale I found out he split coke down the gear selector and never cleaned it. Cokes stains visible in ashtray and automatic gear selector.

Driving on the motorway engine check light comes on. Continue driving moderately to mechanic, idrive screen displays: transmission overheated.

Diagnostic check, transmission sensor and GWS communication error (E08486). Changed transmission sensor, transmission fluid, regenerated DPF, changed GWS selector and switch. Car drove immaculate for one day then the error returned, diagnostic test has only one fault GWS communication error PT-CAN2 (E08486)

HELLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPP Please!

No one is going to magically guess the issue from afar.

Drop the vehicle off a competent and well rated independent BMW service center and let them use the correct tools to determine the faults and resolution.

I did just wondered if anyone had any idea. It's a business car / taxi so the waiting is killing me.

Seems like a electrical power issue, these cars and their computers are very sensitive to this.
I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the spilled coke.
As suggested above, you need a professional to track this down, it can be so many different things.

I had a similar thing happen to me! (2011 528i) During a normal drive the car lights flickered and the car turned off. Turned it back on and it was fine.

About a week later, during a regular drive, a drivetrain malfunction light comes on, then a stabilizer light, then TPMS light .. dash looked like a Christmas tree. Thought something was seriously wrong.

Turned out to be a bad alternator that wasn’t charging the battery properly and I guess it made the system bug out and threw a ton of codes?

Replaced the alternator and the codes went away. Didn’t even need to “delete” them, the codes just never showed up again.
